A letter from the committee of Fab Nobs Theatre
We know most theatre companies out there are doing it tough these days. Many small companies are trying to produce quality shows on a shoe-string budget, knowing that they are only one unsuccessful production away from folding for good.
Well, sadly, the "shoe-string" is about to break at Fab Nobs Theatre Inc.
Yes, this is indeed another "bleeding heart" plea from yet another suburban theatre company, and yes...it is certainly not something we feel at ease having to do. But we, the committee, feel we have a responsibility to do everything we possibly can to avoid the closure of this wonderful and unique company.
Our current production, David Williamsons' classic play "The Club"
, is a fantastically funny show with a stellar cast of experienced actors. And whilst our mid year play has traditionally been a very successful venture for Fab Nobs, unfortunately our marketing campaign for The Club has netted very poor ticket pre-sales to date.
Obviously, poor ticket sales are not the only contributor to our financial woes and we accept that sending this message out will no doubt generate the usual debate and possible backlash.
However, if we can generate a massive improvement in ticket sales from The Club, we can then move forward with our plans to stage a Variety Night and a Trivia Night to raise funds over the next two months to support the company getting back on its feet for our November 2009 production of RENT.
So if you have a spare night over the next week and a spare $25, please come down to our truly Fab Factory and support The Club. Please see our website for show dates and times. You will definitely be entertained and you might just be saving a well loved gem in the Melbourne amateur theatre scene.
You can book your tickets now online at our website or by calling 0401 018 846.
If you would like further information about how you could help support Fab Nobs Theatre please call Phil on 0414 367 062.
Sincerely,
The Fab Nobs Theatre Inc Committee
